Have You Stopped Living…I have

So today hasn’t been that great of a day. I just got back from my vacation, which was good, but I’ve done a little soul searching and something occurred to me. I have stopped living. I have built up these walls around myself and I have literally blocked people out. I don’t do things that I use to enjoy because I feel like the ‘fat girl’ everyone is watching. Talk about some self esteem issues. Wow!

I realized I don’t go out anymore. I don’t go dancing, as a matter of fact I caught myself saying these exact words…I don’t dance anymore because of my weight. I feel embarrassed.

I have let the one thing that I have fought my whole life, take over. It’s infuriating! It’s frustrating!

But to top that off, I am so worried about getting hurt, that I have built sky high walls and built up expectations of my ‘friends’ that no one will ever be able to reach. Friends?…what friends. I have shut them out. I am so worried about what people think that I have tunneled myself a cave of seclusion…and it’s getting lonely.

Do you ever have those ‘ah ha’ moments when you realize that you are the root of your problems, even though you have been blaming others.

The question that lingers…how do you gain the confidence, the self belief to just say to hell with it? I get tired of the prejudgements and I get tired of letting them get to me. But I’ve yet to reach that ‘to hell with it’ point. But I am striving for it!

One brick at a time I’ll get these walls down and I’ll start living the life I dream about.

Are You Ready for Summer?

So here comes another summer. We have our beach trip planned and I am so looking forward to it. As you may have read, we had planned to go to Myrtle Beach this year. Well….plans have changed.

Usually we spend a week in Panama City Beach, but we wanted something different this year. We ended up canceling Myrtle Beach too…BUT on a good note…

We are spending 2 glorious weeks in Palm Beach! In a beautiful 5 star resort situated right on the beach! I am SOOOO looking forward to it! Read the rest of this entry »

Just Breathe

Have you ever felt like there was so much chaos going on around you and that you’re smack dab in the middle of it…and you realize that you just need to breathe?

I’ve got some things going on in my life that I think are going to end up making me make some really big changes. It’s scary but in the back of my mind, I keep thinking….but I’ll finally be able to breathe…I’ll finally be able to just be me. Knowing this, doesn’t seem to make it any easier though.

But at the same time, I feel like it’s ok. We’ll be just fine.

It’s just so confusing and frustrating!

I know this post seems like a lot of rambling…but I’m just trying to get my head straight. I’ll post more details soon though!

Fat Bottomed Girls and the Erosion of Female Self Worth

I was out hunting for some good articles to stick up here, and found this one. It’s a tad bit long…but well worth the read!

Do you ever find yourself apologising for your size? It is a sad fact of life that many women do these days. We’ve become indoctrinated into thinking that big is bad and thin is beautiful, and that the emaciated waifs we see in the media have the perfect must have figure

Yet, history shows it’s actually big women that men find most attractive. The works of Renaissance masters like Botticelli and Rubens show that even the Medieval female was the object of immense fascination and scrutiny. Yet, the women immortalised on these ancient canvases little resemble the super slim celebrities of the modern age. Rather, Renaissance women are often depicted as gloriously full figured, with full bosoms, ample tummies and large bottoms.

Yet, they were still celebrated as objects of beauty… Read the rest of this entry »

Having a Bad Day…

So today hasn’t started out that great. I went yesterday and got my hair cut. I wanted something different so I went super short which I haven’t done for a couple years now. I prefer my hair short like this but now I am battling a case of what I like to call….my fat face syndrome.

I feel like what was hid behind my longer hair is now exposed and I look ridiculous. Every time I walk by the mirror I try not to look. I don’t know if I just don’t like the cut, or if I don’t like the cut because of my ‘fat face’.

So needless to say, everything is ‘fat’ today. I truly hate days like this. It’s like when I get going in my mind, it’s hard to stop the insults to myself. It’s truly frustrating especially when you want to be positive and not beat yourself up over issues like weight.

UGH! It’s just not going to be a good day…

Plus Size - You Are Beautiful - Dress Like It!

Just wanted to share an article I found and though you all might like:

Pick any media source and what do you see? Super thin models who appear to eat a single bread crumb as their total caloric intake each day. This can be discouraging if you are a full figured woman. Don’t let it be! You can be just as beautiful as them.

Most of us women focus obsessively on our outfits because we believe a particular look will get across a point we are trying to make. A sexy black dress will show off our smoldering, seductive side. A correctly cut skirt suit will show off our professional side. As you well know, there seems to be a look for just about every occasion.

Make no mistake. The outfit you wear does go a long way to making a particular impression. That being said, there are two parts to the process. The second is how you carry yourself. Some call this attitude, but it is really about confidence.

A woman who feels sexy, will be sexy. It is as simple as that. Why? Attitude shows through in everything we do. It always has and it always will. Any piece of clothing is only as attractive as the woman wearing it. Attraction is all about attitude. Many women think attitude really only applies to men. It doesn’t. It applies to women just as much.

Picture in your mind a woman in a black cocktail dress. Is she sexy and the focus of men or not? The answer depends largely on her attitude which is conveyed by her body language. If she is “mousy” and passive, her body language will be in contrast to the attitude of the dress and she simply is not going to look good. If, on the other hand, she is confident, her body language will convey that and the dress will look great as an accessory to her overall beauty.

You are who you are. If you are plus size, you can do two things - lose weight or accept yourself. Even if you decide to lose weight, you still are going to be plus size for a bit and you still are going to want to look good. You can. It is all about being comfortable with yourself and confident. Any man would be lucky to have you. Don’t forget that. Also, don’t sabotage yourself by wearing outfits that are too small. Get clothes that fit or you will look like you are trying to hard.

Beauty is an equal opportunity thing. You don’t have to be a rail thin supermodel to have it. You can be plus size and just as beautiful. You just have to be confident and believe in yourself.

Out Shopping…

So one of my favorite places to shop is Lane Bryant. After several years of driving over an hour away to go shopping, they put one in right here in our new mall. I was super excited…now broke all of the time, but excited…

I was surprised to see that their primary colors for Spring are orange and purple. What was so surprising, I guess I should be a bit more specific, was that it seemed like 75% of their clothing (dresses, shirts, skirts etc) were all either orange and purple or some shade of orange and purple. As much as I like orange and purple….I don’t like it enough to wear it every day.

Now don’t get me wrong, they had a few t-shirts that were grey, black, white, etc..but their new styles that came in are the primary ones I am speaking about.

They did have some really nice stuff, but I was a bit disappointed by the color schemes…so needless to say I didn’t buy anything.

If you need some really good fitting jeans, I recommend their right fit jeans. I have a big butt….lmao yep I said that, and I have trouble finding jeans that fit in the rear and in the waist, but the right fit jeans fit like they are suppose to. The only thing I recommend, if you are short like me, I am 5′3, don’t buy the petite…I hate to say it, but when I wear the petite fit jeans, I think they make me look heavier because of the way they are cut. I prefer to wear flare or bootcut jeans and with the petites they seem to make me look heavy all the way down. So I buy the average or regular even though they are a bit long, they look better. Gives me a reason to wear my sexy heels…lol

I have found a couple coupons I thought I would post in case you plan to do any online shopping:

Back By Popular Demand! All Right Fit Pants & Jeans Are $29.99 Each at LaneBryant.com! This Offer is Now Through 03-22-09.

and

Myrtle Beach?

So every year we plan a girls vacation. We usually go to Panama City Beach for a week. This year we have decided to go to Myrtle Beach. I take my daughters and my friend and her granddaughter go. Just the girls for a full week sitting on a beach…such fun!

We are planning to leave a day early and go to Savannah, GA for a night before heading up to Myrtle Beach. It’s been years since I’ve been to Myrtle Beach. I thought I would see if any of you that read my blog are familiar with that area? If so, are there places you recommend?

My girls are 8 and 6. My god daughter is 18. We want to relax but have fun too. We are also looking for a good seafood restaurant. When we go to PCB we like to eat at Dirty Dicks Crab House. The food is awesome there!

I can’t wait for summer to get here! LOL

If you are familiar with the area and can recommend some things to do, or places to eat, or things we shouldn’t miss…let me know!

Are You Getting Married? Need a Wedding Dress?

As you guys know if I come across a site that offers us plus size gals something of value, I try to mention it on my blog and put it up as a resource for everyone.

A really great site for Wedding dresses has been brought to my attention and I found it be note worthy here. If you are a soon to be bride looking for a beautiful, plus size wedding gown, I suggest you take a few minutes and check out this site:

Chatfields Boutique

They have a line called Glamour Plus which has some of the most beautiful plus size dresses I’ve seen. Not to mention…they use PLUS SIZE Models! So you can actually see how they would look on someone your own size instead of the size 0 model… :)

I have had the pleasure of talking with the shop owner and she is fantastic. So when you go to her site, or visit her store, be sure to let her know that you found out about her shop on my site. I want to get the word out there, that even when you’re curvy…you should feel and look like a million bucks on your wedding day!

Plans for Valentine’s Day?

So this month is quickly flying by…I can’t believe it’s already the 24th!

Just curious if any one has any special plans for Valentines Day? I doubt we will be doing anything special.

I am wondering, do any of you have sexy lingerie that you bring out on days like this? If so, where’d you get it? I’ve been scowering the net for affordable plus size lingerie and I have to say…not much in the way of ‘affordable’ out there…lol Or maybe I’m just cheap…LMAO!

If you’ve got something planned I’d love to hear what you’re doing…trying to come up with some ideas! :)
